What you'll do

  • You will own end-to-end delivery of sortation hardware programs across all engineering disciplines, holding the schedule and the critical path across teams that do not report to you and driving technical decisions to closure on the record.
  • You will own the change-control cadence for the hardware portfolio, ensuring our contract manufacturers and deployment partners build to the released revision.
  • You will own the procurement path for program hardware, translating supplier lead times on long-lead components into schedule risk before they become launch impacts.
  • You will own launch readiness for site deployments through the go/no-go decision and the handover to site Reliability Maintenance Engineering and Operations, and you will sustain solutions already in the field.

What they're looking for

  • 5+ years of technical program management experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience working directly with hardware engineering teams
  • Experience taking electromechanical hardware from prototype through production and field deployment

Nice to have

  • 7+ years of technical program management experience
  • Experience designing or implementing integrated automation solutions such as material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing lines
  • 4+ years of change management experience
  • Experience managing contract manufacturers and long-lead component supply chains, including translating lead-time risk into schedule impact
  • Experience managing NPI validation gates (EVT/DVT/PVT) and multi-site deployment launches
  • Experience with capital planning and procurement mechanics — purchase requisitions, capital requests, and vendor qualification
  • Experience owning technology handover to a maintenance or operations organization
  • Master's degree, MBA, or PMP certification

Full description from employer

Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Technical Program Manager to lead hardware program delivery for the Sortation Vertical. You will own the full program lifecycle for next-generation sortation hardware — from concept through engineering validation, multi-site deployment, and sustaining support in the field.

Are you inspired by invention? Is problem solving through teamwork in your DNA? Do you like the
idea of seeing how your work impacts the bigger picture? Answer yes to any of these and you'll fit
right in here at Amazon Robotics. We are a smart team of doers that work passionately to apply
advances in robotics and software to solve real-world challenges that will transform our customers'
experiences in ways we can't even imagine yet.

This role sits on the Sortation Hardware Engineering team and is the single-threaded program owner for our hardware portfolio. You will drive the mechanical and electromechanical programs that deploy into Amazon's Sortation Centers at scale, working across Systems Engineering, Deployment Engineering, Solutions, Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Product, and Customer Support. You will own the program schedule, the change-control cadence, the supplier and procurement path, and the launch readiness gate — and you will be accountable when those slip.

You will be successful in this role if you are equally comfortable running a design review, chasing
a long-lead component through a contract manufacturer, and standing on a sort center floor at 6am during an install.

Key job responsibilities

A day in the life
One morning you are deciding whether a bracket that does not fit stops a live install. That afternoon you are working out whether a cable assembly running three weeks late moves a launch date, and pushing a stalled engineering change through to release. Some weeks you are at your desk owning the schedule and the readiness summary leadership will read before a site goes live. Some weeks you are on a sort center floor with a tape measure. Both are the job.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of technical program management experience
- Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience working directly with hardware engineering teams
- Experience taking electromechanical hardware from prototype through production and field deployment

Preferred Qualifications

- 7+ years of technical program management experience

- Experience managing NPI validation gates (EVT/DVT/PVT) and multi-site deployment launches
