Hybrid

Southampton

We're excited to share an opportunity for an experienced and motivated finance professional to join Ordnance Survey as our Senior Management Accountant. This is a pivotal leadership role within Central Finance, responsible for leading the management accounting and reporting team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality monthly and quarterly reporting. The role offers an excellent opportunity to shape and improve financial processes, drive continuous improvement and automation, and play a key part in delivering a modern, high-performing finance function.

Working closely with Finance Business Partners, Technical Finance, FP&A and Finance Operations, you'll provide leadership across the financial close process while helping to ensure that financial information and insight support effective decision-making across OS.

About the role

As Senior Management Accountant, you'll lead and develop a team of management accountants and finance professionals, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

You'll be accountable for the integrity of management reporting, the effective operation of financial controls and reconciliations, and the successful delivery of monthly and quarterly close processes. Beyond reporting, you'll be expected to identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate finance processes, helping to build greater efficiency, control and insight across the organisation.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strong technical accounting expertise with people leadership, process improvement and stakeholder engagement.

Ensure strong governance, control and compliance across all management accounting processes. You'll oversee balance sheet reconciliations and close assurance activities, maintain adherence to accounting policies and finance standards, and proactively identify and address reporting risks and control weaknesses to safeguard the quality and accuracy of financial information.

Continuous Improvement and Transformation:

Drive continuous improvement across the Management Accounts function by simplifying, standardising and automating processes. Working closely with finance and technology teams, you'll lead initiatives that enhance efficiency, reporting quality and insight, while developing and delivering a roadmap that strengthens systems, processes and ways of working.

Stakeholder Management:

Build strong relationships across Finance and the wider business, acting as a trusted source of financial expertise and insight. You'll understand the business performance and be able to link this understanding to the financial outcomes.
