Senior Manager, Compliance, UNITE

As Senior Manager, UNITE Compliance, you’ll provide independent compliance advice and support across Westpac’s UNITE transformation program. You’ll work with program, business, risk, legal and control teams to understand how proposed changes may affect regulatory obligations, customers, frontline teams and the way the bank operates. 

You’ll review transformation plans, customer migration activity, controls, testing and implementation readiness, helping teams identify and address compliance risks early. You’ll assess incidents and issues, provide practical advice on remediation and escalate concerns when risks aren’t being appropriately managed. 

You’ll also contribute clear insights to senior governance forums and support regulatory engagement relating to the program. This role will suit someone who enjoys navigating complex change, applying sound judgement and influencing positive outcomes while maintaining independent oversight. 

This role is full-time 12-month max term contract and based in Sydney with hybrid and flexibility arrangements.  

 

What do I need? 

You’ll bring strong compliance judgement, practical problem-solving skills and the confidence to provide clear advice in a complex change environment. You’ll have: 

• Experience providing compliance, risk, legal or controls advice within financial services, a regulated organisation or a regulatory environment. 
• An understanding of financial services products, regulatory obligations and compliance risks associated with transformation, technology, data and process change. 
• The ability to review complex information, identify control weaknesses and recommend practical, proportionate responses. 
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to influence decisions, constructively challenge proposals and escalate concerns clearly. 
• Clear written communication skills and the ability to work effectively through change, complexity and competing priorities.
