About this role

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a Senior Manager in Supply Chain Planning, you will lead transformation workstreams for clients in the natural resources sector (mining, pulp & paper, chemicals), owning client relationships, shaping the overall solution, and ensuring delivery of measurable business impact.

  • Lead and own end-to-end Planning transformation engagements, managing scope, timeline, budget, and risk;
  • Serve as the primary client relationship owner at senior/executive levels, translating business challenges into structured problem statements and delivery plans;
  • Direct diagnostics of planning maturity and build the business case for change, quantifying value pools;
  • Define target operating models, governance structures, and implementation roadmaps tailored to commodity-driven, capital-intensive operations;
  • Oversee the development of complex analyses and scenario models to support high-stakes business decisions (e.g., capacity allocation, production mix, export/logistics trade-offs);
  • Lead executive workshops and steering committee presentations, driving alignment and decision-making among senior stakeholders;
  • Guide digital transformation initiatives and Advanced Planning System (APS) implementations, ensuring technical solutions are grounded in industry-specific operational realities;
  • Manage and develop project teams, including junior/mid-level consultants, ensuring quality of delivery and knowledge transfer to the client;
  • Contribute to account growth by identifying follow-on opportunities and supporting business development within the client relationship.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Experience and Track Record

  • Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in Supply Chain Planning, with a significant portion in consulting or leading large-scale transformation programs;
  • Proven experience in natural resources or process industries — mining, pulp & paper, chemicals, metals, or similar commodity-driven, asset-intensive sectors — with an understanding of their specific supply chain dynamics (long production cycles, capital-intensive assets, commodity price volatility, export-driven logistics, environmental/regulatory constraints);
  • Track record of leading complex, multi-workstream projects and managing senior client stakeholders, including C-level executives;
  • Strong ability to structure ambiguous problems, oversee data-driven analysis, and develop actionable, business-grounded recommendations;
  • Experience managing and mentoring project teams;
  • Advanced English required for global project delivery; Portuguese and/or Spanish strongly preferred given the regional context of the engagement.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

Supply Chain Planning

Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in:

  • Demand Planning & Forecasting – demand forecasting methodologies, Forecast Accuracy and Bias management, particularly for commodity/long-cycle products;
  • Supply Planning – balancing demand, supply, and capacity in capital-intensive, asset-constrained environments;
  • S&OP / Integrated Business Planning (IBP) – integrating demand, supply, and financial planning, including commodity price and margin considerations;
  • Inventory Planning & Optimization – Safety Stock, Service Level optimization, particularly for raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods with long lead times;
  • Production & Capacity Planning – planning around continuous/process manufacturing assets, maintenance windows, and yield variability;
  • Scenario Planning – building and evaluating scenarios for strategic decisions (e.g., capacity investment, commodity price swings, export logistics disruptions).

Natural Resources Industry Expertise

  • Understanding of end-to-end value chains in mining, pulp & paper, and/or chemicals — from raw material extraction/sourcing through processing, production, and distribution to export/domestic markets;
  • Familiarity with sector-specific planning challenges: forestry/fiber supply planning, mine-to-port logistics, batch/continuous process constraints, sustainability and ESG considerations in planning decisions;
  • Knowledge of commodity market dynamics and their impact on planning and S&OP processes.

Transformation and Value Generation

  • Leadership of maturity diagnostics and gap identification at an enterprise level;
  • Design of As-Is / To-Be operating models;
  • Definition of processes, governance structures, and KPI frameworks;
  • Development and ownership of business cases and multi-year roadmaps;
  • Identification and quantification of opportunities for inventory reduction, service level improvement, forecast accuracy gains, and operational efficiency.

Digital and Advanced Planning

Experience with, and ability to guide implementation decisions around, solutions such as:

  • SAP IBP / SAP APO;
  • Kinaxis;
  • o9 Solutions;
  • Blue Yonder / JDA;
  • OMP or similar platforms;
  • Analytics, automation, and AI applied to planning, with the judgment to assess technology fit for asset-intensive industries.

DIFFERENTIATORS

  • Prior experience in top-tier management consulting;
  • Direct experience in pulp & paper
  • Leadership role in Planning solution implementation projects;
  • Track record leading S&OP/IBP transformation programs;
  • Executive presence, strong analytical rigor, and proven ability to lead senior stakeholder workshops and steering committees;
  • People management experience, including developing junior consulting talent.
