What you'll do

  • Design and deploy manufacturing test systems — electromechanical subassembly test stations, in-line functional/parametric test, and end-of-line (EoL) acceptance test — sized for medium-to-high throughput..
  • Partner with Engineering and Validation to translate design verification and V&V requirements into production-grade test procedures that run at rate with high repeatability and clear pass/fail determination.
  • Own the test data pipeline end-to-end — from sensor/instrument output through structured data export. Define and iterate data schemas and pass/fail logic, and export data that enables real-time production visibility without post-processing.
  • Design operator-friendly test setups at medium-to-high throughput that inform high-volume line requirements — intuitive UIs, clear pass/fail indicators, guided error recovery, and work.
  • Specify and procure test instrumentation, as in some combination of DAQ hardware, sensors, power supplies, electronic loads, motion controllers and communication interfaces (CAN, EtherCAT, SPI, UART), making smart build-vs-buy decisions.
  • Design test fixtures and mechanical interfaces for device-under-test (DUT) handling and testing. Balance speed (quick turn processing techniques) and precision appropriately for the build stage.
  • Develop and maintain test sequences/software and/or partner with software/controls teams to ensure proper version control, configuration management, and calibration procedures.
  • Analyze test data to drive quality and design improvements — identify trends, correlate test failures to root cause, and feed actionable insights back to design and process engineering. Close the loop between test floor observations and the next design iteration.
  • Define and evolve test coverage strategy as builds shift from development to production scale. Own "ready to test" as part of the broader build readiness process.
  • Drive test system reliability and uptime — manage calibration schedules, develop troubleshooting guides, and train technicians and operators on test execution and basic fault recovery.
  • Lead and build the manufacturing test culture as we grow the team

What they're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent engineering science
  • 7+ years of manufacturing test engineering experience for electromechanical or robotic products.
  • Experience as a technical project lead, mentoring and coordinating with teammates or employees
  • Hands-on experience developing and deploying in-line and end-of-line functional test systems, including test sequence creation, pass/fail criteria definition, and parametric/SPC data collection. Proven ability to implement test systems end-to-end
  • Proficiency in test software/frameworks (e.g., LabVIEW, NI TestStand, Python-based test automation or custom solutions) and DAQ/instrumentation specification.
  • Experience designing test stations intended for operator execution at production rate — not just engineering bench setups.
  • Strong collaboration skills with a track record of partnering closely with design engineering and validation teams to translate requirements into production test solutions.
  • Ability to partner with vendors and integrators to leverage outside resources.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test system design and deployment
  • Experience in robotics or complex electromechanical manufacturing test
  • Ability to design test data export pipelines for dashboarding and analytics — structured data formats, naming conventions, and schemas designed for consumption, not just storage.
  • Experience with high-volume test cell design (cycle time optimization, parallel test, multi-station architectures)
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Grafana, QuickSight, etc.) and structured data formats (JSON, Parquet, SQL databases)
  • Experience with communication protocols common in robotic/electromechanical systems (CAN, EtherCAT, SPI, UART, Ethernet/IP)
  • Knowledge of GD&T, measurement system analysis (MSA/Gage R&R), and statistical process control

Full description from employer

Amazon is seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer to design, deploy, and own the in-process and end-of-line test systems for a product line scaling from prototype builds toward high-volume manufacturing. This is a hands-on technical role at the intersection of manufacturing, test engineering, and data — you'll architect test stations that generate structured data designed for effortless dashboarding, and sit at the seam between validation and production — translating what engineering needs to prove into what the floor can execute at rate.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of experience designing and deploying manufacturing test systems for complex electromechanical products — subassembly testing, in-line functional test, and parametric data collection. You should be equally comfortable specifying fixtures and instrumentation, writing test sequences, and partnering with software teams to ensure a streamlined data pipeline from station to output and learning. This role demands an exceptionally strong partnership with engineering and validation teams to translate design-intent verification requirements into robust, operator-friendly production test solutions that scale.

Key job responsibilities
- Design and deploy manufacturing test systems — electromechanical subassembly test stations, in-line functional/parametric test, and end-of-line (EoL) acceptance test — sized for medium-to-high throughput..
- Partner with Engineering and Validation to translate design verification and V&V requirements into production-grade test procedures that run at rate with high repeatability and clear pass/fail determination.
- Own the test data pipeline end-to-end — from sensor/instrument output through structured data export. Define and iterate data schemas and pass/fail logic, and export data that enables real-time production visibility without post-processing.
- Design operator-friendly test setups at medium-to-high throughput that inform high-volume line requirements — intuitive UIs, clear pass/fail indicators, guided error recovery, and work.
- Specify and procure test instrumentation, as in some combination of DAQ hardware, sensors, power supplies, electronic loads, motion controllers and communication interfaces (CAN, EtherCAT, SPI, UART), making smart build-vs-buy decisions.
- Design test fixtures and mechanical interfaces for device-under-test (DUT) handling and testing. Balance speed (quick turn processing techniques) and precision appropriately for the build stage.
- Develop and maintain test sequences/software and/or partner with software/controls teams to ensure proper version control, configuration management, and calibration procedures.
- Analyze test data to drive quality and design improvements — identify trends, correlate test failures to root cause, and feed actionable insights back to design and process engineering. Close the loop between test floor observations and the next design iteration.
- Define and evolve test coverage strategy as builds shift from development to production scale. Own "ready to test" as part of the broader build readiness process.
- Drive test system reliability and uptime — manage calibration schedules, develop troubleshooting guides, and train technicians and operators on test execution and basic fault recovery.
- Lead and build the manufacturing test culture as we grow the team
