Senior / Principal Civil Engineer

Our client is seeking a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer for contract work supporting clean and wastewater treatment projects across the UK. Working on the contractor side, the role will focus on detailed civil design for a variety of water and infrastructure schemes, contributing to the successful delivery of technically complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing detailed civil engineering designs for clean and wastewater treatment works
• Providing technical input across water infrastructure and treatment projects
• Preparing calculations, specifications, drawings and technical documentation
• Reviewing designs to ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards and relevant regulations
• Working closely with process, mechanical, electrical and project delivery teams
• Supporting design coordination, technical reviews and construction-stage queries
• Identifying engineering risks and contributing to practical, cost-effective solutions
• Maintaining clear communication with clients, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders

Job Requirements:

• Significant experience in civil engineering design within the water or wastewater sector
• Strong understanding of clean water and wastewater treatment works
• Experience working on the contractor side and delivering detailed design packages
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods and relevant industry standards
• Ability to interpret technical information and produce accurate engineering documentation
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Relevant civil engineering qualification or equivalent professional experience
