About this role

Job Description Summary

As a senior technical leader, you will play a critical role in originating, developing and implementing cutting-edge power systems, systems integration, system modeling, and simulation for GE Vernova's systems in our businesses including Power, Wind, and Electrification. You will help to drive the technical strategy for data center integrated power systems as well as develop technology and product roadmaps and collaborate with cross-functional teams, government agencies (DOE and DOD), and industry partners to advance the state-of-the-art in power systems to ensure the performance, reliability, stability, and efficiency of our integrated systems. You will shape and foster strategic collaborations with Universities and strategic technology / business/ external partners to drive innovative power systems and novel integrated system solutions for GE Vernova.

Essential Responsibilities
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will lead and contribute to the planning, development, and transition of technologies from concept to products and/or services for GE internal and external clients. 

You will:

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in Power Systems and Integrated Systems to develop and implement innovative solutions that enhance system performance, efficiency, security and reliability.
  • Drive technical strategy for data center integrated power systems as well as develop the technology and product roadmaps and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead early stage technology development with high disruption potential and mature these technologies from initial concept to successful product introduction.
  • Coordinate disruptive technology efforts in close collaboration with our GEV businesses and ensure that such efforts are incorporated into long-term multi-generational technology and product road maps and plans.
  • Drive technology and product roadmaps to ensure our businesses have a multi-year strategic plan that is competitive and differentiated.
  • Providing technical leadership across GE Vernova on disruptive technologies and market trends with a strong understanding of power systems challenges, energy systems evolution, and the competition.
  • Shape and develop government funding pipeline of projects to build a portfolio of new power systems and systems integration technologies for GE Vernova.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD or Doctorate degree in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related technical field with a minimum of 15 years of experience.
  • A minimum 10 years of experience developing and deploying power system or electrical systems to business and production environments.
  • A minimum 10 years of experience leading teams or large technical development projects.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience leading large research programs, securing R&D funding, and managing projects from conceptualization through to product deployment.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be willing to work onsite at GE Vernova Advanced Research, Niskayuna, NY — onsite presence is essential to support hands-on collaboration and direct reports.
     

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated deep domain knowledge in power systems, system modeling, and simulation.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary programs.
  • Industrial experience in the field of power systems engineering, power systems control, or energy systems optimization.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in related fields such as power electronics, power converter design, electric machines, electrical subsystem.
  • Ability to make decisions with confidence when problems or solutions are not well defined.
  • Demonstrated capability to thrive in a matrixed team environment.
  • Familiarity with multiple GE businesses and shown ability to leverage cross-business networks to achieve outcomes.
  • Experience with GE Vernova products and systems in the Power, Wind, and Electrification businesses.
  • Shown ability to manage risk and uncertainty for self and team within a dynamic priority-setting environment.
  • Strong technical acumen paired with an ability to understand a wide range of technology domains.
  • Influence, facilitation, and negotiation skills; boundary-less/solution-focused approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to take an innovative idea from research to a product.
  • Strong record of peer-reviewed journal publications and conference presentations.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $152,400.00 and $254,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
