Senior Product Engineer – Mechanical

Mechanical Product Engineer, PEM will be leading the mechanical system design for AWD applications. This includes leading individuals responsible for designer, CAE, NVH etc. It also involves interaction with individuals responsible for sales, program management, Engineering project management, ECU, controls, calibration, customer applications, assembly, manufacturing, prototype and production purchasing, and quality and warranty. The PEM will also interact with external teams and individuals, such as customers and suppliers, as required.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct the engineering activities associated with the mechanical product development process for torque management system from new business opportunity through production launch. This includes:

• Analyzing the customer requirements ensuring the product meets performance, packaging and serviceability requirements, and in the resolution of open issues.

• Developing proposals for the mechanical hardware & supporting the estimation process for new business opportunities.

• Performing mechanical hardware system design.

• Providing direction for or issuing CAE/NVH requests, as needed, for analysis of assemblies and components.

• Leading a team in the creation and maintenance of mechanical hardware assembly/system level DFMEAs.

• The development and monitoring of ADVP&R's.

• Issuing lab work orders providing direction for builds, tests, component modifications, and inspection.

• Conducting & leading meetings including design kick-off, design release, root cause analysis and others as necessary.

• Developing engineering specifications for the product.

• Leading the problem solving for root cause investigation and solution creation of mechanical system.

• Provide engineering support for the product development. This includes:

• Supporting the PM/EPM to secure the program development

• Supporting the ECU, software and calibration engineers to ensure the integration of mechanical and electrical systems.

• Supporting validation engineers in preparing the appropriate fixtures and completing testing requirements.

• Supporting sales with engineering data for estimates, including cost reduction opportunities, and with technical data for customer interaction.

• Supporting the production facility in DFM/DFA activities and as a technical resource for the product throughout its life cycle.

• Supporting global supply chain organization as a technical resource for sourcing decisions and technical discussions.

• Supporting quality engineers to figure out the production issues.

• Be involved for engineering budget for programs.

Lead or support the engineering change management process for supported products as required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements / Qualifications

 

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering

• 5+ years Transmission and EDU working experience

• 3+ years working experience on xEV products beneficial

• Deep understanding of e-Axle or electrical/hybrid powertrain development

• Experience on drivetrain development lead

• NVH skills beneficial

• Skilled in Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint,…)

• Excellent communication skills

• Good written and spoken English
