About Lokal :   

In 2018, we began with a WhatsApp group with a simple hypothesis: people in tier-2/3 towns weren’t really using the internet meaningfully yet. We believed that if we started with local content in their own language, they’d come back every day; once there was a habit and trust, that same space could naturally grow into classifieds and, eventually, something they used for almost everything online. 

This spark became Lokal. Our first instinct was to put everything in one place & one app - local updates,classifieds, jobs, matrimony and more. It worked, till it stopped working. Users gave us the insight when one use case outweighs the others, everything else seems like noise. We listened. Like how Craigslist quietly seeded a generation of focused companies & marketplaces, we began unbundling and verticalising.

Today, Lokal is a house of focused apps, many products, one mission: to connect Tier-2/3+ India to the Knowledge, opportunities, tools and experts they’ve always deserved.

Requirements

What you'll own

• Full ownership of a product area, measured by business outcomes (trial starts, trial-to-sub conversion, retention, LTV), not feature output.
• Tight collaboration with marketing and business teams, since our funnel starts at the ad and ends at renewal. You connect ad promises to in-app delivery.
• Deep data work: read user behaviour from data, run 2nd and 3rd level digging to find the real driver, and know when to stop and ship instead of over-analyzing.
• Personalization: ship MVPs fast (ad-topic and cross-category feeds), and build the case for ML-driven personalization when the data justifies the investment.

What you'll bring

• Experience on high-MAU, consumer-facing products at scale.
• Strong user empathy: you can define sharp personas, understand jobs-to-be-done, and have the toolkit to build that understanding quickly in a new domain or language market.
• Comfort balancing rigor and speed: A/B discipline without analysis paralysis.
• Domain understanding, or a proven method for acquiring it fast (user interviews, churn research, funnel teardowns, competitive analysis).

Nice to have

• Vernacular or India consumer product experience.
• Subscription or freemium funnel ownership.
