What you'll do
- Managing engineering projects from enquiry through to completion, acting as the key point of contact for customers throughout project delivery
- Attending customer sites to assess engineering requirements
- Carry out site surveys and produce clear technical notes, scopes and supporting information
- Coordinate machining, fabrication, repair, subcontractor and site service activities
- Monitor project progress, communicate updates and support the achievement of agreed delivery requirements
- Manage multiple live enquiries and projects
- Review customer drawings, specifications, samples and repair requirements
- Support reverse engineering projects and develop practical solutions
- Prepare technical & commercial quotations
- Liaise with workshop personnel regarding manufacturing methods, technical queries and job progress
- Assess site projects and identify all practical requirements
- Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements where applicable

Senior Project Engineer
Our client, a long-established precision engineering business based in the West Midlands is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the delivery of engineering projects across the business, managing work from initial enquiry through quotations, planning, manufacture, installation and completion. The role acts as a practical link between customers, the commercial team, workshop teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
Key responsibilities encompass:
Project & Customer Management – managing engineering projects from enquiry through to completion, acting as the key point of contact for customers throughout project delivery; attending customer sites to assess engineering requirements; carry out site surveys and produce clear technical notes, scopes and supporting information; coordinate machining, fabrication, repair, subcontractor and site service activities; monitor project progress, communicate updates and support the achievement of agreed delivery requirements; manage multiple live enquiries and projects.
Technical & Commercial Support – review customer drawings, specifications, samples and repair requirements; support reverse engineering projects and develop practical solutions; prepare technical & commercial quotations; liaise with workshop personnel regarding manufacturing methods, technical queries and job progress.
Health, Safety & Site Work – assess site projects and identify all practical requirements; prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements where applicable.
We are seeking an ambitious and self-motivated individual, with a minimum of five years’ experience working within a mechanical engineering environment, and a solutions-focused approach, together with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and communicate technical information clearly.
Whilst no specific academic qualifications are requested for this role, relevant practical experience within a mechanical engineering environment would be highly desirable.
