Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Brentwood (flexibility to work from home a few days a week, with the remaining three days spent in the office/on-site)
Salary: £70,000-£80,000 plus car allowance & great company benefits
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

A well-established civil engineering and infrastructure business is looking to strengthen its commercial team with the appointment of a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Brentwood.
With a strong and growing portfolio of projects, the successful candidate will take commercial responsibility across multiple schemes, working closely with clients, project teams and subcontractors to maximise performance and deliver successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the commercial aspects of a multi-scheme project portfolio, taking ownership of CVRs, forecasts, cost reports, valuations and client-facing financial reporting.
• Drive commercial performance and profitability, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, particularly NEC3/NEC4 Target Cost contracts.
• Manage change control, variations, claims and commercial risk, identifying opportunities and protecting the company's commercial position.
• Lead subcontract procurement, including tendering, negotiation, contract placement, payments, variations and final accounts.
• Maintain accurate commercial records, procurement schedules, risk registers and contract documentation.
• Act as a key commercial interface with clients and project teams, providing advice and resolving commercial issues throughout delivery.
• Take ownership of final account negotiations and conclusions, ensuring outstanding commercial matters are resolved efficiently.
• Provide commercial support and strategic advice to project and business teams.
• Mentor and develop Assistant and Junior Quantity Surveyors, with responsibility for supporting their training and professional progression.

About You

• Experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a background in civil engineering, highways, infrastructure or utilities, with proven experience managing multiple schemes and a high-volume workload.
• Strong commercial ownership with experience across forecasting, change management, risk, procurement and complex final accounts.
• Strong practical knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, particularly Target Cost.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build relationships with senior client representatives.
• Self-motivated, highly organised and able to work to a high professional standard with minimal supervision.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a relevant discipline.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

• MRICS/MICES or working towards chartership.
