About this role

Technical Engineering Support (TES) is an engineering services company with over 30 years of experience, specializing in test coordination and industrial commissioning. TES also supports its clients in engineering studies and the assembly coordination of industrial equipment.

As part of our expanding activities on major infrastructure projects, we are currently looking for a Senior Risk Analyst (m/f) to act as a technical expert within our project controls risk management organization.

Working as a risk management expert within the Integrated Project Controls (IPC) team for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) nuclear power station project, the Senior Risk Analyst ensures the uniform implementation of the risk strategy across designated project programs/areas. You will oversee contract delivery portfolios valued between £10m and £500m, guide Risk Analysts and Trainees, and serve as the main face of risk management to Program Directors and executive leadership.

This role is integral to underpinning delivery success across Engineering, Procurement & Manufacturing, Construction, and Commissioning phases, directly driving HPC critical success factors:

  • Integrated baseline delivery

  • Milestone achievement leading to Commercial Operation Date (COD)

Operating Environment Context:

  • Highly regulated mega-project environment under the oversight of the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR).

  • Embedded Nuclear Safety Culture.

  • Strict adherence to project delivery priorities: Safety, Quality, Time, and Cost.

Key responsabilities :

  • Technical Leadership & Team Guidance: Direct daily workloads, provide technical mentorship, and review the work quality of Risk Analysts and Trainee Risk Analysts. Lead risk management and software training for project managers and apprentices.

  • Risk & Opportunity Management: Maintain and assure all risk/opportunity data within dedicated software systems (e.g., ARM). Lead scenario planning, risk workshops, and reviews with Program/Area Directors.

  • Integrated Analysis: Connect risk data across project controls disciplines (cost, schedule, change). Work alongside Project Controls Managers and Tier 1 Contractors to assess contractor-held risks and opportunities.

  • Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA): Utilize advanced tools like Safran to run quantitative risk assessments and inform baseline schedule and cost estimates with high-quality risk data.

  • Reporting & Executive Engagement: Accountable for producing and presenting risk insights at Board Meetings, Program Reviews, and ROTCS. Manage and verify risk metrics within Power BI dashboards.

  • Governance & Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to risk procedures, frameworks, and reporting tools. Ensure strict protection of Sensitive Nuclear Information.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Education: Degree level or equivalent qualification in Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Certifications: Industry-recognized certifications such as Management of Risk (M_o_R) Practitioner and/or APM Risk Level 2.

  • Experience: Demonstrable expertise in risk management within complex project environments, with a strong track record of cross-functional integration and senior stakeholder facilitation.

Desirable:

  • Experience in major complex construction projects.

  • Experience within the Nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors.

Knowledge, Skills & Software Tools :

  • Software Expertise: Expert user and trainer in ARM (Active Risk Manager), Safran (QSRA), Power BI, and MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Access).

  • Analytical & Communication Skills: Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and ability to simplify complex quantitative risk concepts for executive leadership.

  • Interpersonal & Values: Strong alignment with HPC core values (Humility, Positivity, Respect, Solidarity, Clarity) and team culture (Trust, Transparency, Teamwork)
