We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Signal & Image Processing) to join our team in Lichtenfels, Germany. In this role, you will design, build, deliver, and maintain software and sensor applications that are part of our additive manufacturing machines.

Your main focus will be on process monitoring solutions for laser-based additive machines, contributing to print documentation, anomaly detection, and process stabilization. This is a great opportunity for someone who combines strong software engineering skills with deep expertise in camera systems, imaging, and signal processing.

This role is based in Lichtenfels, Germany and we offer a hybrid working model with up to two home-office days per week.

Job Description

What you’ll do

• Design and implement complex software features and systems for additive manufacturing applications
• Develop and maintain software using .NET, Python, and Node.js
• Drive solutions related to camera integration, imaging, frame grabbers, data transfer, image normalization, calibration, and resolution
• Contribute to architecture decisions, coding standards, and engineering best practices
• Support hardware selection and performance evaluation to ensure system requirements are met
• Collaborate with product managers, hardware teams, manufacturing, and additive engineering teams
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
• Improve codebase quality, tooling, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and monitoring
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, cybersecurity, export control, and data protection requirements
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another STEM field
• Several years of professional experience in software engineering or a comparable technical role
• Strong experience in product development
• Good understanding of SDLC, Lean/Agile, CI/CD, software security, scalability, and testing practices
• Experience in signal processing, image processing, camera systems, or machine vision
• Fluent German and English
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Nice to have

• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or additive / 3D printing environments
• Familiarity with data acquisition, machine control, industrial protocols, or hardware integration
• Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies
• Knowledge of secure coding, identity and access management, and enterprise compliance requirements
