Senior Staff Interaction Designer, Search App

As an Interaction Designer at Google, you’ll always start from a user-centered app-first mindset to drive intuitive, highly engaging user journeys for our products. You’ll bring a builder's mindset with strong craft and the ability to make design decisions that result in a coherent user experience while also assessing for execution, longevity and scale of designs. You’ll have an aesthetic sensibility, understanding relevant trends to make design decisions that increase the overall appeal of our product set. You’ll be a systems thinker with the ability to analyze existing landscapes and consider how factors or components interrelate with each other and within the context of larger systems. You’ll bring AI fluency to effectively interact and prototype with AI tools, understand core AI concepts and limitations and critically assess desired outputs for accuracy.

As a Senior Designer on App Foundations, you’ll shape the foundational design and execution of some of the most critical surfaces, impacting billions of users every month. You will hold a high bar for craft, balance complex technical constraints with user needs, and directly influence cross-functional partners to create the world’s most knowledgeable and personal AI companion that adapts to your needs, provides rich experiences that best match your question, and effortlessly enables conversation about anything.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $236000 - $329000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:

• Influence stakeholders across organizations to gain support for design strategies.
  
• Lead the development of innovative design solutions to user, product, and business problems.
  
• Own a holistic design process, design system, or design language across teams or products.
  
• Lead design solutions based on user insights, business needs, and industry trends that further business outcomes.
  
• Guide and provide direction to UX designers in creating design concepts for user research/testing.
  

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience in product design or UX.
  
• Experience leveraging generative AI tools and workflows for prototyping and interface exploration.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 15 years of experience in product design or UX.
  
• 6 years of experience leading design projects.
  
• 5 years of experience working with executive leaders.
  
• Experience working with Designers, Researchers, Engineers, Content Strategists, and Product Managers throughout the design process.
