About this role

Careers that change lives start here. Medtronic is a global leader in healthcare technology with a Mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. Our 95,000 employees work across more than 150 countries to put patients first — developing innovative medical technologies that improve the lives of 72+ million patients each year. Your unique talents will help shape the future of healthcare while building a career grounded in purpose, growth, and impact.

A Day in the Life

Join Medtronic as a Senior Strategic Accounts Manager (SSAM) in driving group and state growth of the ANZ Medical Surgical (MS) & Neuroscience (NS) Enterprise Accounts businesses across Queensland. You will play a critical role in developing and executing strategic partnerships with National Private Hospital Buying Groups, private hospital networks and key healthcare stakeholders across Australia and in shaping long-term commercial agreements, driving sustainable growth, and strengthening executive-level customer relationships across the healthcare sector.

Based in Queensland, this is a flexible working role that may require travel to customer sites and national meetings to support executive engagement, contract negotiations and strategic account planning. As part of a highly collaborative environment, you will work closely with Operating Unit leaders, Sales and Marketing teams, and enterprise account colleagues across Medtronic.

The SSAM is responsible for leading strategic customer relationships within the Australian private healthcare sector, partnering with senior hospital executives and buying groups to deliver commercial growth and long-term value. The successful candidate will combine commercial, financial and relationship management expertise to develop account strategies, negotiate complex agreements and identify opportunities across the MS and NS portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Grow and maintain commercial viability across assigned Private Hospital Buying Groups and individual healthcare accounts, delivering agreed revenue, profitability and growth targets.
  • Own executive-level customer relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for C-suite stakeholders including Chief Executive Officers and Chief Financial Officers.
  • Lead the MS and NS portfolio relationship for one or more National Private Buying Groups, with future opportunity to assume pan-Medtronic leadership responsibility for one designated buying group, coordinating engagement across all Medtronic operating units.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans that align customer priorities with Medtronic business objectives.
  • Maximise business performance through effective management of rebate agreements, contracted pricing arrangements and commercial investments.
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations, including offer modelling, financial analysis, proposal development, pricing strategy and contract execution.
  • Partner with Operating Unit leaders, Sales and Marketing teams to identify, prioritise and execute growth opportunities across the portfolio.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities and act as a trusted business partner to support enterprise account strategy and decision-making.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Marketing or a related commercial discipline and a minimum of 5 years' experience in strategic/corporate account management &/or sales/business/commercial leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex commercial negotiations, contracts and customer agreements.
  • Experience engaging and influencing executive-level stakeholders
  • Proven financial and commercial acumen, including experience with business analytics, pricing strategies and profitability management.
  • Experience leading cross-functional enterprise initiatives involving multiple business units and stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to travel within Australia to support customer engagement and business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strategic or corporate account management experience within the medical device, healthcare, pharmaceutical or adjacent regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of the Australian private healthcare sector, including private hospital groups, buying groups, health insurers and healthcare funding models.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Business, Commerce or a related discipline
