About the Role

Amentum is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Manager to provide technical leadership across major water and wastewater infrastructure programmes. The role is responsible for leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring technical excellence, governance and innovation throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility and design through construction, commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across water infrastructure projects.

  • Establish technical strategies, engineering delivery plans and governance arrangements.

  • Provide technical oversight and assurance to ensure compliance with client requirements, legislation and industry standards.

  • Manage complex technical risks, interfaces and engineering challenges.

  • Support project and programme delivery by aligning engineering activities with cost, schedule and construction requirements.

  • Lead design reviews, technical assurance activities, value engineering and constructability assessments.

  • Build strong relationships with clients, delivery partners, contractors and key stakeholders.

  • Champion innovation, sustainability, digital engineering and low-carbon solutions.

  • Mentor and develop engineering teams, promoting technical excellence and professional growth.

  • Support bids, proposals and business development opportunities across the water sector.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in an engineering or related technical discipline.

  • Significant experience in technical leadership within the water, wastewater or major infrastructure sectors.

  • Proven track record leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex projects or programmes.

  • Strong understanding of engineering governance, design management and risk management.

  • Experience across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility through to commissioning and handover.

  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration.

  • Experience working with UK water utilities and major capital delivery programmes.

  • Knowledge of digital engineering, BIM and data-led delivery approaches.

  • Understanding of sustainability, carbon reduction and climate resilience initiatives.

  • Experience contributing to bids, tenders and strategic business development.
