Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Staff Construction Engineer . This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel Program

Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Apply engineering judgment to review and interpret design drawings, specifications, basis-of-design documents, and engineering change notices; identify constructability issues, technical risks, and opportunities for improvement.

• Effectively process subcontractor submittals (shop drawings, RFIs, material submittals, method statements) in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Sentinel Infrastructure protocols, and applicable codes and standards.

• Perform technical evaluations of subcontractor proposals, construction means and methods, and material selections to verify compliance with engineering requirements, performance criteria, and life cycle considerations.

• Support field engineering activities, including resolution of non conformances, development of rework/repair plans, and documentation of deviations and as built conditions.

• Be thoroughly familiar with and help drive the quality inspections process, including inspection test plans (ITPs), hold points, acceptance criteria, and verification of critical and safety related work.

• Be thoroughly familiar with the site specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP); collaborate with safety and engineering teams to identify and mitigate technical hazards, and incorporate safety-by-design concepts into planning and execution.

• Closely track the construction project schedule, identify engineering and technical dependencies, and proactively highlight risks to key milestones; support recovery planning when technical issues affect schedule.

• Interface with customer representatives, design engineers, and internal stakeholders to communicate technical status, resolve field issues, and ensure alignment between design intent and field execution.

• Maintain a detailed daily construction and engineering log, capturing technical decisions, field conditions, testing results, and configuration changes.

• Support configuration management and turnover documentation, including as built drawings, technical reports, inspection records, and commissioning / system acceptance documentation.

• Encourage, lead, and/or participate in staff training and development on engineering processes, technical standards, and best practices for construction and infrastructure projects.

• Contribute to continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and recommending updates to standards, procedures, and design/construction guidance.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

• T05: 12 Years with Bachelors in Science; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD; In lieu of formal degree – 4 years of relevant experience.

• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access.

• Documented training and field experience with technically complex construction and infrastructure projects, preferably in industrial, aerospace, nuclear, or defense environments.

• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards in a construction or field engineering environment.

• Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., IBC, IFC, NFPA, UFC, or similar) and their application to design and construction activities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical decisions and communicate with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, construction, safety, quality, and customer).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in large scale construction management or construction trade preferably on Department of Defense and/or missile contracts.

• Must be able to present a professional demeanor while dealing with both subcontractors, clients and peers.

• Ability to process a large volume of construction submittals and Requests for Information (RFI).

• Prior experience on large-scale projects with tight deadlines.

• Prior experience on projects with limited work space available.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $208,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
