Set Up Producer - Ryan Bridge TODAY

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a highly-motivated Set-Up Producer to help drive the daily editorial agenda of Ryan Bridge TODAY, the NZ Herald's flagship streaming news programme.

Working closely with the Executive Producer and Senior Producer of Ryan Bridge TODAY, you'll identify the stories that matter, secure high-profile guests, develop compelling interview angles and help shape a dynamic daily rundown that keeps pace with New Zealand's rapidly-changing news environment.

From politics to breaking news, sport and entertainment, you'll be hungry to source, research and deliver content that informs, engages and grows our audience across all platforms.

This is a fast-paced role suited to an eager producer, reporter or journalist looking to develop their career and make an impact. You'll be meticulous and have the utmost attention to detail. You'll be comfortable spinning multiple plates at once and thrive under pressure. You'll have excellent news judgement and bring your own strong story ideas.

HOW YOU'LL DO IT

· Drive story generation by identifying emerging news lines, interview opportunities and fresh editorial angles.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with media contacts, spokespeople, decision-makers and high-profile talent.

· Secure quality guests and talent for daily programming.

· Research topics and prepare concise briefing notes, background material and interview questions for presenters.

· Help shape daily rundowns, ensuring a compelling mix of breaking news, analysis and engaging content.

· Work closely with presenters, journalists, producers, editors, studio staff and visual teams to deliver high-quality content.

· Source and coordinate supporting visual elements including video, graphics and social content.

· Contribute ideas that add value to stories already in the news cycle through expert interviews and deeper analysis.

· Maintain high editorial standards, accuracy and attention to detail across all content.

· Respond quickly and effectively to breaking news and changing priorities.

· Apply audience insights and analytics to inform content decisions and maximise engagement.

· Think creatively about storytelling across streaming, digital and social platforms.

· Champion NZME's editorial standards, ethics and multiplatform content strategy.

ABOUT YOU

You'll be an up-and-coming producer, reporter or journalist with a strong understanding of the New Zealand news agenda and a passion for current affairs.

You'll bring:

· Newsroom, journalism or content production experience.

· Strong editorial judgement and a genuine nose for news.

· A proven ability to source stories, identify angles and secure interviews.

· An extensive contact network or the ability to build one quickly.

· Excellent research, writing and communication skills.

· Experience working in digital, broadcast, streaming or multimedia environments.

· Confidence working with presenters and senior stakeholders.

· Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

· A calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure.

· A collaborative mindset and willingness to work across teams.

· Knowledge of media law, editorial standards and current affairs best practice.

· A passion for creating compelling content that resonates with modern audiences.
