Sewer & Water Foreman

Company Description:

Swift Underground is an installation company located in Steinbach, MB. We use industry leading equipment and technologies to install, test, and deliver underground utilities in Manitoba. We are currently seeking a qualified individual to fill our underground water and sewer utilities roles.

Position Summary:

The individual in this position will report to the Superintendent and be responsible to the relevant Project Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the quality and schedule of underground water and sewer related infrastructure installations. The scope of work the crews complete will include confined spaces work, operating heavy equipment, pipe fusing, placing of materials, pressurization testing and sanitization.

Our ideal candidate will highly value honesty, have excellent detail organization skills, enjoy the outdoors, and be in good physical condition. Our ideal candidate should have 3+ years of experience in a leadership role, be well familiar with sewer and water products, spec sheets and engineered drawings, and be comfortable managing staff to ensure the project is run smoothly and efficiently.

Essential Job Functions:

• Oversee the installation of water and sewer materials to meet or exceed Engineer and Owner requirements
• Lead multiple crews through a project, instructing each crew lead in the process
• Ensure crews daily hours and productions are properly submitted on time
• Conduct daily toolbox meetings outlining daily scope of work and associated hazards
• Work with the project Engineer or Owners representative through a project, understanding their concerns and ensuring communication is strong
• Assist the Estimator and Project Management teams site visits, bidding, and pre-installation testing
• Work out of town is mandatory, likely 80% of our projects are outside the southeast of Manitoba. Projects inside 5 hours are typically Monday to Friday on site, while projects 5+ hours from Steinbach are on 10&4 rotations
• Troubleshoot and resolve utility support requests
• Work with the superintendent and project manager to get accurate field information for billing and administration
• Work with the superintendent to identify any additional billings to the contract and communicate the information to the project manager
• Coordinating and supervising the installation of valves, hydrants, couplings, and other fittings
• Assist in maintaining adequate equipment & material inventory

Position Qualifications:

• 3+ years water and sewer experience in a crew lead or foreman role
• 5+ years water and sewer experience overall
• Understand and practice safety policies and practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated manual dexterity, ability to climb ladders, and able to lift and carry 75+lbs
• Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems

Compensation & Benefits:
