About the Team and the Role

The Battery Production team at Ather is responsible for driving day-to-day manufacturing operations, maintaining rigorous SQCDM benchmarks, and ensuring seamless battery assembly execution.

This role is for a Shift In-charge who will lead shop-floor operations, champion continuous improvement initiatives, and foster a disciplined, high-performance work environment across shift teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and align shift production personnel to consistently achieve daily SQCDM (Safety, Quality, Costs, Delivery, and Morale) key performance indicators.

• Plan on-the-job training (OJT) and execute associate multiskilling across all workstations to guarantee optimal workforce deployment.

• Enforce 100% adherence to standard operating procedures, maintain 5S shop-floor hygiene, and ensure workplace safety compliance.

• Allocate and optimize 3M resources (Man, Machine, Material) to meet production volume targets while conducting variance analysis and corrective actions.

• Maintain line readiness for internal process and inventory audits as well as external ISO certification audits (IMS).

• Drive associate recruitment, shift performance appraisals, structured counseling, and grievance resolution to sustain positive team morale.

• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders on engineering change management processes, including MQ1, SOR, DAP, FTR, CR, and IA workflows.

• Collaborate with the Spec Ops team on containment strategies to eliminate line stoppages, improve SPR, and drive assigned Development & Sustenance EPICS to timely closure.

Experience and Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Engineering or Manufacturing

• Professional experience with 4-8 years as a Shift In-charge within the auto industry

Must Have Competencies

• Application of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and operational productivity improvement techniques.

• Execution of structured problem-solving methodologies including A3 analysis and PDCA frameworks.

• Quality improvement tool implementation and adherence to Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).

• Manufacturing line balancing, 3M resource planning, and battery assembly operational control.

Good to Have Competencies

• Adoption of Digital Manufacturing solutions and Industry 4.0 floor technologies.

• Implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and equipment reliability tracking principles.

• Operational tracking and documentation utilizing SAP, JIRA, and Google Workspace tools.

• Coordination of engineering change management systems, including MQ1, SOR, DAP, FTR, and CR protocols.
