What you'll do

  • Supervises team and sets clear goals for each team member.
  • Interviews, hires, trains team members as needed.
  • Evaluates job performance, schedules work and other work-related responsibilities.
  • Responsible for the scheduling and supervision of the repair and maintenance of production equipment and facility-related plant and utilities.
  • Trains technicians on using up-to-date techniques to problem solve repeat equipment and facilities breakdown issues and implement solutions to prevent further issues.
  • Develops and maintains KPI's and metrics for the department.
  • Ensures adequate inventory of critical spare parts for all production and facilities equipment.
  • Responsible for the reliable operation, maintenance and compliance of site facilities systems, including HVAC, chillers, compressors, RO water systems, fire alarm systems, Building Management Systems (BMS) and associated utilities.
  • Coordinates contractors and service providers to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate facility-based sustainability projects in support of Merit’s Sustainability Strategy, ensuring initiatives are delivered in line with established goals, targets and timelines.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify, implement and monitor sustainability and energy reduction initiatives that improve facility performance and support corporate environmental objectives
  • Writes reports, extracts engineering or other data from various reports and processes and presents the data.

  • Demonstrated leadership competencies.
  • Knowledge of maintenance techniques such as Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Predictive and Preventive Maintenance as well as TPM and other Lean initiatives.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of supervision.
  • Good knowledge and experience of facilities-related plant equipment, including chillers, compressors, HVAC systems, RO water systems, fire alarm systems, Building Management Systems (BMS) and associated utilities is required.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to solve moderately complex technical problems.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to delegate work.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem solving and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database, AutoCAD, SolidWorks and other applicable software programs.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Three or more years of maintenance experience within a manufacturing, production, facilities or regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies.
