Smart Factory Automation Engineer

Job Description

Join Renesas Kulim as an Automation Engineer and be part of our Industry 4.0 journey. You will develop and support automation solutions including SECS/GEM, AMR, robotic arms, RPA, and Zen Systems. We seek highly dedicated individuals with strong learning agility, ownership, and problem-solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop, implement, and maintain factory automation solutions to improve productivity, quality, equipment utilization, and operational efficiency.

· Support and enhance SECS/GEM integration and system connectivity between manufacturing equipment, host systems, and factory automation platforms.

· Design, deploy, and maintain smart automation technologies, including Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), robotic arms, and related material handling systems.

· Develop and support Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Zen Systems, and server-based applications to streamline manufacturing and engineering workflows.

· Troubleshoot automation systems, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with Production, Equipment, Engineering, and IT teams.

· Provide timely support for critical automation systems, including after-hours support when required, to ensure minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.

· Prepare and maintain Smart Automation-related documentation and reports

Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related Engineering disciplines.

· Knowledge or experience in industrial automation, system integration, and manufacturing automation solutions.

· Programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, C#, SQL, VB.NET, Java, or equivalent).

· Experience or exposure to SECS/GEM, AMR, robotics, RPA, or Smart Factory technologies is highly preferred.

· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Self-motivated, committed, and eager to learn new technologies, with strong teamwork and communication skills.
