Job Title: Software Engineer II C/C++ (m/f/d)
Location: Hamburg, Germany
Job Overview:
As a Software Engineer II at Cadence’s Simufact team in Hamburg, you will design and build graphics-based applications and intelligent tooling for next-generation simulation software that sits at the intersection of engineering physics, algorithms, and AI-driven workflows. Your work will directly shape the quality and capability of products used by engineers across the world’s most demanding industries. You will operate in an agile, internationally collaborative environment where AI is treated not as an add-on feature, but as a core part of how software is conceived, built, and maintained.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and develop graphics-based applications within modern GUI environments, with a focus on usability, performance, and maintainability.
- Integrate AI-assisted development tools and approaches — including code assistants and agent frameworks — as a standard part of the software development lifecycle.
- Build well-defined interfaces that enable effective interaction between users, engineering workflows, and AI systems.
- Design and execute systematic software tests independently and develop tooling to support automated test evaluation.
- Apply analytical and model-based thinking to decompose complex technical requirements into well-structured, testable solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members across product, engineering, and QA to iterate on software features from requirements through to release.
- Contribute to ongoing technical documentation, code reviews, and knowledge sharing within an international engineering team.
Job Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 2–5 years of professional software development experience, with a track record of delivering production-quality C/C++ code.
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate AI tools — such as code assistants or data-driven methods — into day-to-day development practice, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required for working effectively in an international team environment.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Experience with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript. Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g. Git). Exposure to simulation software, CAE tools, or engineering physics domains. Experience working in an international or cross-cultural team environment.
Additional Information:
- You will join the Simufact software engineering team in Hamburg — an international group focused on advanced simulation solutions for manufacturing processes, operating within Cadence’s broader software portfolio.
- Key collaborators include product managers, QA engineers, and simulation domain experts across multiple European sites.
- The team works primarily with C/C++, modern GUI frameworks, and AI-assisted development tooling. Agile practices (Scrum/Kanban) are standard.
- This is a permanent, full-time position based in Hamburg. Hybrid working arrangements are available.
