As SDE you are expected to design flexible and scalable solutions, and work on some of the most complex challenges in large-scale computing by utilizing your skills in data structures, algorithms, and object oriented programming.

We are looking to hire smart and highly motivated Engineers who will work towards launching this next wave of disruptive services platform for Amazon. As a member of this team your mission will be to design, develop, deploy, document and support scalable and distributed real time systems.

This is an early stage initiative with a fast paced, highly collaborative start up like environment inside Amazon. To be successful you need to be flexible and entrepreneurial. You are deeply interested in pragmatic problem solving as well as taking risks in pioneering brand new areas. You create extendable design and easy to maintain technical solution with the long term vision in mind. You will hold the high bar in software development in our org and lead other experienced developers with revolutionary design and experiments.

* Design, develop, test, and deploy intelligent packaging workflows and machine learning-powered platforms that serve our worldwide customer base
* Partner with product leaders, ML scientists, and cross-functional teams to influence packaging roadmap decisions and define technical strategy aligned with sustainability goals
* Build and maintain core infrastructure, production services, and tools that support packaging engines, test labs, fulfillment centers, and field operations
* Drive system architecture decisions and establish best practices that enable code quality, reliability, and scalability across our software systems
* Coach and support junior engineers in their technical growth and help them develop their skills in building large-scale distributed systems



A day in the life
Sustainable Packaging team designs and drives the adoption of packaging technologies lower our cost structure, improving customer experience and, as part of the Climate Pledge, reduce our carbon footprint. You will lead the team that works upstream with vendors, sellers, Amazon Private Label and downstream across our outbound packaging suites to drive best in class packaging for efficient fulfillment and waste reduction.

We work closely with fulfillment centers, field personnel, and packaging test labs to understand their needs and deliver solutions that make their work more efficient. Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
