About the Team

The Monetization Platforms department is one of the strategic units within Corporate IT and is responsible for Design, development & management of Billing, Licensing and Subscription Solutions as three central services across the ZEISS Group worldwide.

Your Role

As a Software Engineer (Global Role) with 2-7 years, you are responsible for the development of the frontend using React for Licensing platform at Zeiss.

Your key responsibilities:

Must-Have Skills (Non-Negotiable):

• Several years of hands-on experience developing React-based web applications
• Strong proficiency in C# / .NET for implementing backend services or backend-for-frontend logic
• Solid knowledge of RESTful APIs (request/response design, status codes, error handling)
• Confident handling of JSON for data exchange and integration between frontend and backend
• Proven experience in designing user interfaces (structure, layout, interaction patterns) in collaboration with UX/design or product teams
• Experience working in agile development teams (Scrum/Kanban) using Git-based workflows and pull requests

Core Technical Requirements:

• Practical experience building single-page applications with React (components, hooks, state management, routing)
• Experience using design systems / UI component libraries, ideally Beyond UI or comparable frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to translate UX concepts and wireframes into high-quality UI (responsive layouts, reusable components, accessibility basics)
• Strong experience with C# / .NET to consume and expose RESTful APIs and integrate the portal with backend services
• Good understanding of frontend build and packaging tools (e.g. npm, Webpack, Vite, or similar)
• Experience with Azure DevOps build pipelines for building, testing, and deploying React and .NET applications
• Hands-on experience in designing and implementing automated end-to-end tests with Playwright, including test concepts, test structure, and integration into CI pipelines
• Experience with additional automated testing (e.g. unit tests, component tests, API tests) for frontend and/or backend components
• Experience with Azure services relevant for web applications (e.g. Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Entra ID integration)

Broader Responsibilities the Candidate Will Own:

• Design, implementation, and maintenance of the central licensing portal built with React and Beyond UI
• Designing and implementing user interfaces that are intuitive, consistent, and aligned with ZEISS design guidelines and Beyond UI
• Development and maintenance of C# / .NET backend components that power the portal and integrate with licensing services
• Close collaboration with backend, client, UX, and architecture teams to ensure consistent end-to-end user journeys for licensing workflows
• Continuous improvement and automation of build, test, and deployment pipelines for the portal in Azure DevOps
• Participation in incident analysis and bug fixing, including troubleshooting across frontend, backend, and API boundaries
• Contribution to UX discussions, coding standards, documentation, and reusable UI components for the portal and related services

Basic Requirements:

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience as a full-stack or frontend engineer with React and C# /.NET
• Proven experience delivering web applications and UIs in a corporate or product development environment
• Experience working in international, cross-functional teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured and user-centric working style
• Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken

Solid understanding of:

• Modern React development practices (components, hooks, state and effect management, routing, basic performance optimization)
• UI and interaction design principles (layout, hierarchy, consistency, feedback, responsive behavior) for building intuitive and efficient user interfaces
• Working with a design system such as Beyond UI (tokens, components, patterns) and applying it consistently
• REST API consumption and integration in frontend applications (error handling, loading states, authentication flows)
• C# / .NET web development, including integration with external services and APIs
• DevOps and CI/CD concepts with Azure DevOps (pipelines, environments, artifact handling, basic YAML configurations)
• Security and authentication in web applications (e.g. Azure Entra ID, OAuth2/OIDC, token handling in SPAs)
• Automated testing approaches for frontend and backend components and their integration into CI/CD
• Basic understanding of software licensing processes and implementation patterns is a plus
