Software Engineer III, Android, Jetpack Remote Compose

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with other members of the Core Remote Compose team to build new functionality in the Remote Compose codebase.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across wear, homescreen app widgets, and other form factors to unblock their use of Remote Compose on novel new surfaces with guidance from leads.
• Work and iterate on Application Programming Interface (API) design with input from the team and community.
• Be focused on providing the best user experience for our developer community.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience with Android application development.
• Experience with Kotlin.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with API Design, Android Libraries, Declarative Programming and API Development.
• Previous knowledge of Jetpack Compose.
• Familiarity with Android as a platform and have an interest in building libraries targeting developers as our users.
