Software Engineering Manager, Identity Onboarding

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

The AION (Authentication, Identity, and Onboarding) team caters to Onboarding and Authentication experiences on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

In this role, you will scale and lead critical projects in the Identity Onboarding space.

For GCP, the ability to attract and retain new developers is inextricably linked to the simplicity of our initial sign-up process. However, seamless presentation to our end users doesn't preclude built-in security safeguards, governance mechanisms, and protections against abuse. Identity Onboarding is a complex space that's directly linked to the bottom line of Cloud.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:

• Direct and build a team of individual contributors to re-engineer GCP onboarding. Build the solution as a platform, so that elements of the solution can be rapidly re-packaged to support different GCP products and their onboarding scenarios.
• Navigate multiple organizations, product areas and align engineering efforts across them. Be responsible for regularly presenting the project's progress to senior leadership.
• Architect solutions that balance a frictionless user experience with stringent security and compliance requirements. 
• Build, manage, and mentor a multi-disciplinary engineering team capable of touching multiple layers of the GCP/Google identity stack.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 8 years of experience in software development.
  
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
• Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.

Preferred qualifications:

• 10 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing strategic projects, with 3 years of experience in a people management role.
• Ability to technically mentor team members and grow technical expertise and leadership within the team.
• Ability to coach and support team members in their career growth.
