SolidWorks Architectural Metalwork Designer

CADagency is delighted to be working with a specialist manufacturing business focused on high-end architectural metalwork. We are assisting them in recruiting a SolidWorks Architectural Metalwork Designer to join their growing design team. This is a full-time, office-based role due to the close day-to-day coordination required with fabricators, joiners and project teams.

The company produces bespoke staircases, balustrades and balconies for both residential and commercial projects. You will work with in-house fabricators and joiners across a wide range of materials including steel, aluminium, brass and timber. The design team typically develops concepts from architect drawings through to fully detailed fabrication models.

You will be responsible for creating 3D models and 2D drawing packs in SolidWorks, preparing fabrication details and ensuring all designs are practical, buildable and aligned with manufacturing methods. You will also use AutoCAD when interpreting architect drawings or preparing layouts for client approval. Regular communication with the workshop and project managers is expected so that technical details flow clearly through to production.

Key requirements

• Strong SolidWorks experience within metalwork, fabrication or a related engineered product
• Ability to produce accurate 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings
• Comfortable interpreting architect drawings and preparing design information in AutoCAD
• Good understanding of materials and manufacturing processes including steel, aluminium and timber
