SolidWorks Production Designer

CADagency is delighted to be working with a manufacturing business based in Middleton as they look to recruit a SolidWorks Production Designer to join their team. This is a full time, office based role offering £40,000 to £45,000 and would suit someone with a strong production design background and solid SolidWorks experience.

The role sits within the Production Design team and will involve producing accurate CAD models and detailed technical drawings for manufacture based on customer briefs and bespoke project requirements. You will work closely with internal teams across sales, project management, procurement, production and installation, acting as a key technical contact on live projects and making sure drawing information is accurate, practical and issued to schedule.

You will be responsible for producing detailed drawing packs for both customer approval and internal production, creating production ready designs from design briefs and concepts, modifying and updating existing drawings, and working within SolidWorks PDM Vault to maintain revision control. The role also involves supporting technical queries, ensuring drawings meet production requirements and looking for opportunities to improve process, reduce cost and refine manufacturing methods.

Candidates should have strong SolidWorks experience, ideally around five years, along with previous experience working in a revision controlled and process driven manufacturing environment. A good understanding of aluminium profile, sheet metal, tubular fabrication and welding, timber based construction and plastics would be highly beneficial. Experience within retail design, exhibitions, lighting or LED products would also be of interest, although this is not essential.
