Parker Smith Inclusion are looking to speak with teachers interested in specialist SEND opportunities across Havering.

The schools we work with support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism and complex learning needs. Teaching is adapted around each pupil, with a strong focus on communication, independence, relationships and progress.

About the Role

As a specialist SEND teacher, you'll have the opportunity to really get to know your pupils and understand how they learn best.

Depending on the setting, this could include:

• Planning and delivering individualised learning

• Using practical, sensory and hands-on approaches

• Supporting pupils with Autism and complex SEND needs

• Using alternative communication such as PECS, Makaton and core boards

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

• Building communication, confidence and independence

• Working alongside TAs, therapists and other professionals

• Adapting lessons around each pupil's strengths, interests and needs

With smaller class groups and strong support around you, you'll have the time to build genuine relationships and recognise the progress that might otherwise be missed.

About You

We'd love to hear from experienced SEND teachers, particularly those with Autism experience.

However, you don't need to have worked in a specialist school before.

These opportunities could also suit a mainstream teacher considering a move into SEND who is patient, adaptable and genuinely interested in developing their specialist practice.
