What you'll do

  • Design, plan, supervise, and execute assigned process and/or product development projects in accordance with applicable processes and procedures, from ideation through commercialization.
  • Conduct innovation and development activities aligned with the category strategy to create new food products or improve existing ones.
  • Lead all stages of product and process development, including laboratory trials, pilot trials, industrial trials, and qualification activities at manufacturing sites.
  • Develop and maintain product specifications and formulations, including product characteristics, costs, process parameters, analyses, and ingredients.
  • Participate in product sensory evaluations using both internal and external panels.
  • Work closely with R&D laboratory technologists.
  • Serve as a technical expert for various departments, including Marketing, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, and Procurement.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers for the sourcing, evaluation, and qualification of goods and services in accordance with company best practices.
  • Partner with B2B customers, including private label clients, industrial customers, and co-manufacturers.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and process or product performance optimization.
  • Liaise with manufacturing plants to resolve technical issues and customer complaints.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and processes that support strategic innovation initiatives and participate in research projects as required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English. English is required to collaborate with colleagues and customers across other Canadian provinces.

‘Your role in achieving results:’


The Innovation and Product Development Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and participating in product and process innovation, product development, and technical service activities. The incumbent will lead innovation, cost-reduction, portfolio optimization, and product development projects aimed at bringing innovative products to market at a competitive cost. They will also collaborate with customers to address inquiries and work closely with internal and external stakeholders. In addition, they will provide technical support to both the category and manufacturing site for cost optimization and process performance improvement initiatives, while maintaining or enhancing product functionality and integrity.


Product Development and Innovation
