Our Pharmacy team works closely with patients, providers, and other healthcare professionals to help patients access the medications they need while providing knowledgeable and compassionate support throughout the process.

Position Overview

The Specialty Rx Financial Assistance Specialist communicates with patients and physicians to secure patient assistance through grants, foundations, and manufacturer support for eligible patients. This position also assists in processing prior authorization claims as required. When needed, the Specialist assists pharmacists and technicians in the medically integrated pharmacy and may assist pharmacists with administrative tasks such as processing insurance claims, tracking inventory, and filing paperwork.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two to four (2–4) years of related experience through an equivalent combination of education and experience OR four to five (4–5) years of related experience

Preferred:

  • Similar vocational preparation through completion of a two- to four-year degree

Credential/Licensure

Required:

  • PTCB certification or equivalent
  • Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy registration

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent organization, analytical, and follow-up skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to operate equipment such as computers, scanners, and cash registers
  • Basic mathematics skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Ability to analyze situations and respond in a timely manner

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Typical clinical environment with a moderate noise level
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands/wrists, climb or balance, talk, hear, and see for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work with fumes or airborne particles, risk of electric shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Ability to calculate weight-based dosing and apply concepts of basic mathematics
  • Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving concrete variables in routine situations
  • Respect the dignity and confidentiality of patients
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record and report to work on time
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance
