What you'll do

  • Develop, implement, execute, and improve environmental compliance programs at the Terafab location
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations established by TCEQ, DOT, EPA and other applicable local, state, and federal agencies
  • Track, review, and interpret new and proposed environmental laws and regulations, and provide guidance to management
  • Perform environmental audits to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies
  • Build, maintain, and operate the hazardous materials business plan, compliance calendar, and other recordkeeping and environmental tracking tools
  • Maintain site operational compliance plans including storm water pollution prevention plan, spill prevention control and countermeasures plan, and industrial wastewater discharge permits
  • Responsible for all required environmental reporting and record keeping
  • Coordinate and manage contractors for permitting and environmental testing
  • Assist the Environmental Health and Safety team with site operational compliance as needed
  • Assist in planning for changes in physical facilities, reviewing new or modified equipment and new manufacturing programs to meet regulatory and permitting requirements
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with federal, state, and county regulators
  • Develop and maintain positive and close working relationships with engineering teams across the site

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

SR. ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER 

We are building Terafab, a vertically integrated semiconductor factory at an unprecedented scale. The facility houses logic, memory, packaging, test, and lithography mask production under one roof, optimized for rapid iteration and maximum compute density per square foot. Additionally, the campus will include power generation and compute testing facilities that will enable fully optimized development, operation, and testing of the fabrication facility and its products.

This position requires a dedicated environmental professional who will be able to use their skill, knowledge, and experience to further our Environmental Health and Safety programs within our fast-paced work environment that includes operations that have never been attempted before. You will bring deep experience in environmental compliance as it relates to construction and manufacturing operations, and preferably with experience in the semiconductor or power generation sectors. You will have the opportunity to build an environmental compliance program for the site from the ground up as it evolves, and success depends on clear communication, strong cross-functional influence, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-change environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Anderson / College Station, TX area
  • Position requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed
