Sr. Estimator - Gas Power Generation

Blattner is expanding our energy construction leadership into gas power generation. This is a unique opportunity to help build this new business from the ground up, backed by a company with decades of proven success in the energy sector. This position will help us shape the processes and standards that carry this business forward to deliver end-to-end hybrid energy solutions.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

The Senior Estimator leads the procurement and estimating process by coordinating bidding procedures, ensuring bid accuracy, and maintaining technical compliance. In this role, you will also play a key part in securing new project awards through effective negotiation, impactful presentations, and clearly communicating what sets our company apart.

STEP INTO THE ROLE

• Identifies and calculates cost of project safety requirements (training, PPE) into bid.  Identifies and determines JHA risks and includes costs in estimates. Pursues, selects and utilizes subcontractors who meet risk management criteria.
• Displays personal and professional ethics and complies with and enforces company policies and procedures when bidding projects, including utilizing company estimating software, performing bid reviews, etc. Takes personal responsibility to ensure that a quality bid has been produced. 
• Plan the estimate for and during the pre-bid meeting.  Create preliminary project schedule during estimate.
• Supervises and provides development of subordinates through mentoring, formal training and exposure to diverse work experiences.
• Conduct project site visits and review cost/production reports in order to compare actual cost and plan to estimate and conduct special studies to develop and establish standard cost data.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• Four-year construction or engineering degree with five to seven years of experience as an Estimator or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience in mathematics including algebra and geometry; or equivalent training and/or experience; with an emphasis in Gas Powered Generation.

WHAT SETS YOU APART

• Advanced knowledge of construction market, estimating strategies, estimating techniques, cost control and proper scheduling of purchases and work.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems.

$100,561.00 - $145,814.00 Individual Compensation to be determined based on the applicant's applicable experience and qualifications balanced against internal equity.
