What you'll do

  • Develop comprehensive Design Verification Plans (DVPs) in collaboration with power design engineers, SI/PI engineers, and system integration teams.
  • Apply Design for Testability (DFT) principles during design reviews, ensuring test point accessibility, boundary scan implementation, and built-in self-test capabilities.
  • Focus on design verification from subsystem testing through functional testing and system performance validation.
  • Develop test methodologies and fixtures as needed.
  • Develop and maintain test scripts in collaboration with design and firmware engineers.
  • Use software simulation tools to model circuits and systems, analyze performance, identify failure modes, and optimize designs.
  • Ensure proper test execution, data collection, review, and system requirement verification.
  • Own and manage comprehensive test procedures and execute system and board-level test plans.
  • Troubleshoot and propose viable fixes when faced with electrical failures.
  • Develop practical, cost-effective solutions that address root causes and prevent future occurrences.
  • Maintain requirements traceability during testing and solve integration and test problems in real time.
  • Provide technical support to less experienced engineers during DVT execution, actively unblocking technical challenges and accelerating their development through hands-on guidance.

What they're looking for

  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
  • Experience building test automation frameworks and tools
  • Experience with cross-functional product development from concept to production
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Hands-on experience testing power electronics and high-speed electrical systems
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience in technical leadership of development, testing, and implementation of large-scale, complex technology projects
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects
  • 7+ years in hardware validation for aerospace or satellite systems
  • Experience with space hardware test processes and environmental testing (thermal vacuum, vibration)
  • Familiarity with space-grade components and radiation testing
  • Knowledge of environmental test standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810)
  • Experience with digital interfaces (I2C, SPI, CAN) and requirements management tools

Full description from employer

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

As a Sr. Power DVT (Design Verification Test) Engineer on the Amazon LEO avionics team, you will own the complete design verification lifecycle for power electronics systems destined for Low Earth Orbit. You will bridge design intent and flight-ready hardware by developing comprehensive test strategies, executing rigorous validation campaigns, and driving cross-functional collaboration across power design, SI/PI, FPGA, firmware, and system integration teams. Your technical leadership will ensure our satellite power systems meet stringent space-grade requirements while mentoring junior engineers and establishing scalable test methodologies that accelerate our mission to deliver global broadband connectivity.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
