Job Description Summary

The Sr. Procurement Manager Capability & Leadership Development is responsible for shaping the future capabilities of the global Procurement organization. The role owns the Procurement Capability Framework, leads the Advanced Procurement Academy, and drives talent, leadership, and capability development across the function.

Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Sr. Procurement Manager Capability & Leadership Development is responsible for shaping the future capabilities of the global Procurement organization. The role owns the Procurement Capability Framework, leads the Advanced Procurement Academy, and drives talent, leadership, and capability development across the function.

Your Key Responsibilities: 

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

1. Capability Strategy & Transformation

  • Own and continuously evolve the global Procurement Capability Framework.
  • Anticipate future capability requirements driven by business strategy, AI, digitalization, and evolving Procurement practices.
  • Translate business priorities into capability roadmaps, development programs, and career pathways.
  • Define capability standards and proficiency levels across Procurement.

2. Procurement Academy & Learning Ecosystem

·       Lead the Sandoz Advanced Procurement Academy.

·       Develop scalable learning journeys across strategic, commercial, digital, functional, and leadership capabilities.

·       Build an integrated learning ecosystem combining training, coaching, mentoring, digital learning, and experiential development.

·       Ensure alignment with broader Sandoz growth and development initiatives.

  • Build and maintain a network of leading procurement organizations, academic institutions and industry peers to benchmark and incorporate leading capability and leadership development practices.

3. Talent & Leadership Development

  • In close partnership with Procurement Leadership and P&O, shape and execute the Procurement talent, leadership, and capability agenda globally.
  • Embed capabilities into recruitment, talent reviews, succession planning, career development, and performance management.
  • Strengthen leadership readiness and succession pipelines for critical roles. Design and implement mentoring, coaching, and talent acceleration initiatives in partnership with Procurement Leadership and P&O.

  • Future-Ready Culture & Capability
  • Drive the development of future-ready Procurement capabilities and mindsets, including strategic thinking, commercial excellence, leadership, intellectual curiosity, digital and AI fluency, and business value creation.
  • In partnership with Procurement Leadership, people managers, and P&O, strengthen a high-performance culture rooted in Sandoz values.
  • Foster continuous learning, diverse thinking, constructive challenge, and external market orientation to accelerate innovation and impact.

5. Capability Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish capability assessments and organizational capability metrics.
  • Monitor capability gaps, learning effectiveness, and leadership readiness.
  • Measure business impact and continuously adapt development priorities to evolving business needs.

What you’ll bring to the role: 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a strong advantage. 5-8 years of relevant experience in Procurement, Consulting, Organizational Development, Talent Management, Learning, or Transformation. Procurement experience is an advantage.
  • Strong business acumen and a broad understanding of how capability and leadership development support organizational performance and transformation.
  • Proven track record in building global capability and leadership development programs.
  • Strong understanding of Procurement and future capability trends.
  • Experience operating in global, matrix organizations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive adoption across large organizations.
