Job Description

Job Summary

The Logistics & Dispatch Operations Manager is responsible for leading end-to-end logistics and dispatch planning operations across the supply chain network. This role oversees transport operations, dispatch planning, deployment execution, logistics support activities, stakeholder management, team leadership, process excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The position acts as a critical link between Planning, Warehousing, Transportation, Production, Customer Service, and external stakeholders to ensure efficient product movement, optimal resource utilization, and achievement of operational KPIs. This consolidated role is derived from responsibilities outlined in

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Logistics Operations Management

  • Lead and manage logistics operations, including transport execution, dispatch planning, billing support activities, and operational logistics services.
  • Maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders and customers.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between logistics, transportation, warehousing, production planning, and customer service teams.
  • Monitor operational performance and drive service excellence across the supply chain.

2. Dispatch Planning & Transportation

  • Oversee daily deployment and dispatch planning for finished goods across the distribution network.
  • Ensure transport plans are generated, reviewed, validated, and executed effectively.
  • Monitor transport order creation and execution in ERP platforms such as SAP and Oracle.
  • Coordinate special freight requirements and ensure timely shipment execution.
  • Verify dispatch adherence and shipment completion against planning schedules.
  • Ensure transport priorities align with customer service and business requirements.
  • Facilitate effective communication between production planning and transportation teams to ensure execution feasibility.

3. Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of logistics and dispatch planning professionals.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train new team members.
  • Organize workflows and assign responsibilities to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Monitor productivity and provide regular coaching and performance feedback.
  • Conduct annual and mid-year performance reviews.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

4. Performance Management & Operational Excellence

  • Establish, monitor, and evaluate operational KPIs and service metrics.
  • Analyze performance trends and implement corrective actions where needed.
  • Balance team workload and ensure optimal utilization of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with established processes, controls, and operating standards.
  • Drive operational stability while maintaining high service levels.

5. Continuous Improvement & Transformation

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across logistics and dispatch planning functions.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Eliminate operational barriers impacting execution and customer service.
  • Support transformation programs, automation initiatives, and process standardization efforts.
  • Develop and implement best practices to enhance productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.

6. Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding logistics and dispatch operations.
  • Collaborate with Warehousing, Production Planning, Transportation Planning, Documentation, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Drive alignment across functions to achieve business and customer objectives.
  • Effectively communicate operational risks, opportunities, and performance updates to leadership.
