About this role

About Target

As a Fortune 50 company with more than 400,000 team members worldwide, Target is an iconic brand and one of America's leading retailers. At Target, we have a timeless purpose and a proven strategy and that hasn’t happened by accident. Some of the best minds from diverse backgrounds come together at Target to redefine retail in an inclusive learning environment that values people and delivers world-class outcomes. That winning formula is especially apparent in Bengaluru, where Target in India operates as a fully integrated part of Target’s global team and has more than 4,000 team members supporting the company’s global strategy and operations.

Joining Target means promoting a culture of mutual care and respect and striving to make the most meaningful and positive impact. Becoming a Target team member means joining a community that values diverse backgrounds. We believe your unique perspective is important, and you'll build relationships by being authentic and respectful. At Target, inclusion is part of the core value. We aim to create equitable experiences for all, regardless of their dimensions of difference. As an equal opportunity employer, Target provides diverse opportunities for everyone to grow and win

About the Role

Target is standing up a design practice focused on agentic experiences. As a Senior Product Designer, you'll shape early interaction models, work through open problems with product and engineering, and turn rough ideas into something a team can actually build.  Much of this work is systems-level: how a pattern holds up across multiple teams and use cases, beyond the look of any one screen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype agentic experiences: multi-agent entry points, cross-domain surfaces, and the moments where a system's reasoning needs to be visible and trustworthy.

  • Build fast demonstrations that give internal teams something concrete to react to.

  • Work directly with product teams adopting agentic AI. Take their early idea and shape it into a real product direction alongside their engineering counterparts.

  • Design how trust and autonomy actually show up in an experience: guardrails, human-in-the-loop moments, and how the system's provenance is surfaced to the person using it.

  • Hold your work to a high standard across journey maps, flows, and prototypes. Think about whether a pattern holds up beyond the specific team it started with.

  • Few precedents exist for this kind of work, so you'll often be inventing the approach as much as the product. Look to the industry for what's working elsewhere, but expect to build new methods where nothing established fits.

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ years in product/UX design, with a portfolio that shows you can think past a single user and a single interface, beyond screen-level craft alone.

  • Direct exposure to AI/agentic product design, developer experience design, or adjacent work like complex workflow tools, platform/infrastructure UX, or design systems at enterprise scale. You should already be building in this space in some form, even outside a formal role.

  • Comfort with ambiguity. You'll sometimes design against a model or platform that's still being finalized, which means structuring your own thinking first, then bringing that structure to the work itself.

  • Advanced Figma proficiency and a working understanding of WCAG accessibility standards.

Nice to Have

  • Some technical fluency - API literacy, design-to-code tools, or comfort prototyping with code, so you can move fast without waiting on an engineer for every iteration.

  • Experience contributing to a design system.

  • The ability to walk someone through why you made a decision, beyond what the final screens look like.

  • Writing, talks, side projects, or anything else that shows genuine interest in this space. Doesn't need to be public - sharing it alongside your portfolio works too.

A Note on Fit

Take this role if you'd rather help define how this practice works than step into one that's already set. You should be as interested in how trust and autonomy should feel as in what an agent can technically do. Expect to be building the ground you're standing on.
