Staff Accountant - Corporate Accounting

POSITION SUMMARY (Objective/Purpose of Position): The Staff Accountant – Corporate Accounting position is responsible for assisting with the accurate and timely recording of accounting transactions for the Company’s Retail division, for analyzing accounting data and preparing reports for management, and for preparing month-end journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Ensure timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts including cash, accounts receivable, prepaid assets, accrued liabilities and deferred income balances. 30%

· Participate in the month-end variance analysis process, completing in-depth analysis of assigned financial statement items, coordinating variance responses from operational and corporate departments and communicating these results to management. 25%

· Analyze and record accurate month-end financial accruals, review accruals processed by other departments and prepare other month-end entries. 20%

· Assist in the preparation of comparative trial balances, consolidating schedules and other workpapers used in the review and analysis of monthly financial statements and used annually for the external audit. 15%

· Coordinate the preparation of journal entries and financial statements for various subsidiaries, serving as a liaison for teams working in other locations. 10%

· ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance

Preferred Degree: N/A

Certificate(s) or License(s): N/A

Experience: 2+ years in accounting / finance
