Staff Software Engineer, Persistent Disk

With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

Google Cloud's Persistent Disk team is shaping the future of cloud storage acceleration. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the technical strategy and execution for our next-generation, custom-designed 1600Gbps Infrastructure Processing Unit (IPU) platform.

In this role, you will take complete technical ownership from concept to production in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. You will build high-performance firmware, simulators, and software stacks entirely from scratch for new pre-silicon IP blocks. You will collaborate directly with ASIC teams to influence custom silicon architecture and system capabilities long before tape-out.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
  
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  
• 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  
• 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
