What you'll do

  • Partner with the Motor Systems Architect, EPS Technology & Market Manager, Application Engineers, Finance, and management to define the Electric Power Systems controls and inverter solutions within our markets.
  • Own the inverter and motor controller architecture, including power electronics topology, gate drive, thermal management, and control hardware selection, in coordination with the motor architecture defined by the counterpart Systems Architect.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineers and Project Engineers on customer opportunities to ensure that concepts align with schedule, price-point, and performance targets.
  • Help explain trade-offs to customers and act as proposal technical lead to develop specifications, functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and concept solutions which provide best value for upcoming opportunities.
  • Own the controls architecture across EPS products, including current/torque control, motion control, real-time embedded software, and functional safety, ensuring tight integration with the motor design.
  • Partner with Technology & Market Manager to proactively understand market trends and customer technical wants and needs for EPS markets.
  • Create and present technology roadmaps, identify technology gaps, and provide guidance on ways to move forward to internal management.
  • Document stakeholder and system requirements for controls and inverter subsystems.
  • Direct trade-off analyses and performance assessments to create system architectures that meet requirements.
  • Support the on-site installation of the system and transition to customer by enabling relevant systems, products, or services, such as operator training systems, as defined in the customer contract.
  • Directly supervise a team of engineers that may include electrical engineers, test engineers, and controls engineers – setting priorities, developing talent, and conducting performance management.
  • Collaborate with the Project Engineers to make sure that the project goals are met with regards to schedule, cost, and performance of the product.

We're looking for a Staff Systems Engineer who will span all areas of engineering development in the Ground Road Vehicles (GRV) division owning the controls and inverter subsystems of our Electric Power Systems (EPS) portfolio, including motor controllers, power electronics, embedded and real-time control software, and electric actuation controls – first-of-a-kind designs. This role is the controls/inverter counterpart to the Systems Architect who owns motor design, and the two will partner closely as co-leads across the EPS product line.

What You'll Do:

Compensation Information:

$120,000 - $180,000 Annual Salary, needs to commensurate with experience and qualifications.
