Steuben County REMC is a growing distribution Electric Cooperative providing electrical and fiber-optic broadband services to more than 10,000 homes, farms and businesses in Northeast Indiana and is headquartered in Angola, Indiana. Job Description

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the cooperative’s core IT systems, including servers, networking equipment, and security tools. This role ensures system stability, security, and availability by managing infrastructure within defined responsibilities and partnering with internal departments and approved vendors when specialized expertise or additional support is required.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree in information technology or related field is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years information technology experience is required.


Communication and Relationship Skills

  • Maintain a professional image, demonstrate the cooperative principles and adapt to change as required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to describe and explain complicated or sensitive information, and strong listening skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate closely with employees and vendors on a regular basis.
  • Ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult people and/or situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding member financial information and other sensitive information.

  • Proficient with the administration of management of system networks including virtual servers.
  • Proficient with the administration of VMware, Veeam, Microsoft management tools including Azure Active Directory, OneDrive, Office 365, Teams, Outlook, and OneNote.
  • Proficient with the administration of workstation and mobile device hardware and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to operate and manage office equipment, including workstations, mobile devices, phone systems, printers and copiers.
  • Strong project management and planning skills, including the ability to coordinate work with other departments or organizations and to make meeting/conference arrangements.
  • Ability to present information to groups.
  • Ability to adhere to cyber-security protocols established by the cooperative.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to consistently implement and complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and operate at a workstation.
  • Ability to sit and stand for periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday within or between departments.
  • Strong sensory skills, such as good hearing, dexterity, feeling, and good eyesight, including the use of peripheral vision.
  • Ability to speak clearly.
  • Ability to interact frequently with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence.
