Full description from employer

We help shape the policy conversation to ensure the business can continue to innovate and grow. This role has a unique view into—and the ability to make an impact on—high-level executive engagements, communications, and interactions.

You will help our most senior messengers land critical policy narratives on campus. We externalize those narratives via strategic channels, including global and regional convenings, meetings, and Google-hosted events and visits.

Key components of the role include evaluating requests, ensuring discipline around level and ROI, planning, sourcing speakers and content, preparing materials, and ensuring well-prepared teams and executives, all while managing stakeholders on campus. You will need to have an interest in the policy issues that matter to Google, know how to navigate bureaucracies, and understand protocol. You are organized, professional, and have an ability to build cross-functional relationships internally. This role requires attention to detail, a proactive mindset, an action-oriented attitude, and the ability to communicate effectively across teams.

Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
