Substation Designer

What you'll do
- Deliver electrical engineering and design solutions for substation and power infrastructure projects.
- Take ownership of electrical design deliverables, including primary and secondary systems, design calculations, specifications and associated documentation.
- Review project requirements, technical specifications, drawings and other relevant documentation to establish design scope.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable legislation, industry standards and client requirements.
- Coordinate electrical design activities throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design through to construction.
- Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency, cost, constructability and overall value.
- Manage design programmes and ensure deliverables are completed within agreed deadlines.
- Identify design changes, additional scope and potential variations and communicate these to the wider project team.
- Coordinate with external design consultants, equipment suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Manage technical queries, RFIs, design comments and associated project documentation.
- Identify potential design risks and develop appropriate mitigation measures.
- Provide technical support and engineering advice to construction and operations teams.

- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience working within the power, utilities, renewable energy or substation sector.
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles and the interface between design and construction.
- Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with ePlan or similar electrical design software.
- Experience with electrical design studies or cable design software.
- Experience working on substation design projects from concept through to construction.
- Previous experience coordinating external consultants, suppliers or contractors.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project cost and programme considerations.
- Full Clean Driving Licence
