About the Role

We're looking for a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team in Mansfield.

Forget rushing between visits, at Perthyn you will spend your whole shift in one home, giving you the opportunity to get to know the people you support and build positive relationships. 

The people we support are looking for someone who is positive, engaging, kind and respectful whilst maintaining clear professional boundaries. They value team members who are confident, resilient, and willing to get involved in the activities they enjoy. 

The people you'll be supporting have learning disabilities and autism and may at times require support to manage challenges relating to communication, emotional wellbeing, routines, and daily living. One person is supported with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches, and both benefit from consistent, positive support that promotes confidence, independence, and healthy lifestyles. We're looking for someone who is patient, resilient and able to remain calm and encouraging when faced with challenges, whilst always seeing the person beyond their support needs.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be supporting two gentlemen to live fulfilling and independent lives, helping them achieve their goals, develop new skills, and enjoy the activities that matter most to them. 

No two days are the same. You will be:

• Supporting people to enjoy hobbies such as gardening, cooking, woodworking, music, and gaming. 

• Helping people access their local community through swimming, bowling, shopping, café visits, cinema trips, and countryside walks. 

• Supporting people to attend concerts, football matches, holidays, and day trips. 

• Encouraging the development of everyday living skills, including cooking, budgeting, shopping, and maintaining their home. 

• Empowering people to make choices, build confidence and increase their independence.

• Supporting healthy lifestyles, attending appointments, and providing medication support where required.

Experience is not essential. We're looking for people with the right values, attitude, and enthusiasm to support others to live the life they choose. Full training and ongoing support will be provided. 

Desirable:

• Experience supporting people with learning disabilities. 

• Experience supporting people with autism or complex support needs. 

• QCF/NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care. 

• A full UK driving licence.
