Sustainability & Environmental Manager - Azerbaijan

About the Role

We are looking for a Sustainability & Environmental Manager to lead and coordinate the company's environmental and sustainability activities, ensuring that relevant requirements, projects, and initiatives are effectively managed across the organization. The role will work closely with different departments and external stakeholders, providing guidance on environmental and sustainability matters, monitoring relevant regulatory developments, coordinating projects, and supporting sustainability reporting and data management. The ideal candidate is an experienced sustainability professional with strong organizational, analytical, and stakeholder management skills who can independently manage multiple topics and drive progress across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the company's environmental and sustainability activities, ensuring that agreed objectives and initiatives are effectively followed up.
• Monitor relevant environmental and sustainability legislation, regulations, and standards, keeping the company informed of important developments.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on the business, coordinating appropriate actions with relevant stakeholders.
• Lead and coordinate sustainability and environmental projects across different departments, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Collect, analyze, and consolidate environmental and sustainability data to support reporting, KPIs, management information, and sustainability disclosures.
• Oversee the preparation and coordination of sustainability-related reports, documentation, and management information.
• Act as a key point of contact for environmental and sustainability-related matters, providing guidance and practical recommendations to colleagues and management.
• Stay up to date with developments in sustainability, environmental protection, climate change, and related legislation, translating relevant developments into clear and actionable information for the business.
• Coordinate internal awareness and training initiatives, helping colleagues understand their responsibilities in relation to environmental and sustainability matters.
• Manage relationships with external consultants, suppliers, auditors, authorities, and other relevant stakeholders where required.
• Ensure that relevant environmental and sustainability requirements are properly addressed and followed up across the organization.
• Contribute to the continuous development of the company's sustainability approach by monitoring relevant industry developments and established best practices and bringing relevant opportunities to the attention of management.

What You Bring to the Table

• A Master's degree (M.A./M.Sc.) in sustainability, environmental management, environmental sciences, climate, engineering, business, or a related field, or comparable qualifications.
• At least 2–4 years of relevant professional experience in environmental management, sustainability, ESG, regulatory compliance, corporate sustainability, environmental consulting, or a comparable field.
• A good understanding of environmental and sustainability regulations and standards.
• Experience managing sustainability or environmental projects and coordinating activities across different departments.
• Experience working with environmental and sustainability data, reporting, KPIs, and management information.
• Strong analytical skills and confidence working with data. You consider Excel a friend rather than a foe.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage several topics and stakeholders simultaneously.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills and confidence working with colleagues across different departments and levels of the organization.
• A proactive and independent approach, with the ability to identify potential risks, ensure appropriate follow-up, and keep projects moving forward.
• A quick comprehension, interdisciplinary mindset, and strong analytical and strategic thinking.
• Fluent in English. Knowledge of additional European languages is an advantage.
• A dedicated team player who prioritizes finding the right solution and creating a positive impact over individual interests.
