Full description from employer

UPP is the UK's leading provider of on-campus residential and academic accommodation infrastructure, operating across a diverse portfolio of university partnerships. We're passionate about creating exceptional places for students to live and learn, and this opportunity plays a key role in helping us deliver our sustainability and ESG ambitions across the UK.

We are looking for a Sustainability Project Coordinator to join our Energy & ESG team and support the delivery of sustainability initiatives, energy and carbon reduction projects, and wider ESG programmes across UPP's national portfolio.

Working closely with the Director of Energy & ESG, ESG Analyst, operational teams and university partners, you'll coordinate projects, engage stakeholders, track progress and help drive sustainability improvements across our sites.

You'll play an important role in embedding sustainability into day-to-day operations while supporting meaningful environmental and social outcomes across the business.

You'll have the opportunity to work on a broad range of sustainability initiatives, collaborate with colleagues and partners across the UK, and contribute to projects that support UPP's long-term sustainability strategy.

This role is based in our award-winning London office near London Bridge and Cannon Street stations and offers hybrid working. Some travel across the UK to our university sites, including overnight stays when needed.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate and support the implementation of sustainability and ESG initiatives across UPP's national portfolio.
  • Maintain project plans, trackers, action logs and programme reporting to provide visibility of progress, risks and milestones.
  • Support the development of business cases, project briefs and procurement activities for sustainability initiatives. Monitor project delivery, implementation status and outcomes.
  • Coordinate ESG governance forums, working groups and programme meetings, including agendas, actions and stakeholder communications.
  • Support energy, water, carbon and wider ESG improvement initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Assist with the development of sustainability communications, awareness campaigns, engagement activities and training materials.
  • Build strong relationships across UPP, university partners and external suppliers to support successful project delivery, drive sustainability initiatives and share best practice.
  • Support the adoption of digital collaboration, automation and AI-enabled tools that improve programme management, reporting and communications.

We are looking for you to already be working a project coordination, project support or programme management role, with:

  • Experience working within sustainability, energy, environmental, facilities management or asset management environments.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, track progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with colleagues, contractors, university partners and external stakeholders.
  • Good practical understanding of sustainability, ESG, energy or utilities principles.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Ability to prepare clear reports, communications and presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • A genuine passion for sustainability, environmental improvement and positive social impact.

Alongside this, you'll be proactive and collaborative with a positive approach and the ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment, delivering actions through to completion and meeting deadlines.

Experience within property, real estate, student accommodation, higher education or infrastructure environments, together with knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks, project management tools or operational sustainability programmes, would be advantageous.

In return, we are offering a salary up to £40k with a great benefits package which includes a discretionary performance bonus, 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, private healthcare, pension, enhanced family leave policy, life assurance, training, two paid volunteering or personal development days and a cycle-to-work scheme.

UPP welcomes all applications and recognises the value of having a diverse and inclusive culture, which reflects the communities we work with and has a positive impact on our people, our student residents and our university partners.

We understand all disabilities, impairments and conditions are unique, so please advise us of any adjustments which would support you through our recruitment process and help you to thrive at work.

Our core values of Innovation, Sustainability, Community, Partnership and Respect are fundamental to our culture and summarise what is important to our business and our people.

We are a team with energy, pace and passion; apply today and help us deliver meaningful sustainability initiatives and positive environmental impact across UPP.
