What you'll do

  • CTCT-Level Architecture: Make design and architectural decisions at the CTCT level with strong systems thinking, translating complex business and system requirements into robust software design.
  • End-to-End Codebase Command: Hold a deep understanding of the entire EW/RW codebase and system-wide flows — able to go into HW/SW internals and see the bits and bytes move across multiple features.
  • First-Principles Simplification: Cut architectural complexity and cost/BOM by deleting, not just adding — reducing designs to their essential parts and killing complexity that is slowing the org down.
  • Crisis-Grade Debugging: Be the person who resolves any crisis, anywhere in the codebase or the field — including cross-domain HW/SW issues others get stuck on — regardless of which team owns the code.
  • Systemic Fixes: Put fixes in place that stop whole classes of bugs from recurring, not just one-off patches.
  • Reliability Standards Across Teams: Drive reliability and safety standards across EW/RW so the whole product fails safe.
  • Release Governance: Represent your area in the CCB, make go/no-go release-blocker calls, and drive SDF, T-Review, and release-governance standards across teams.
  • CI/CD at Scale: Tailor the SDF and design robust CI/CD across features; drive CI/CD standards and automation across EW/RW.
  • AI-Native Ways of Working: Set the AI-Native patterns and guardrails others adopt — define prompt / agent standards and QC for AI output, and orchestrate and automate the build-test-deploy cycle with AI across teams.
  • Velocity, Telemetry & Data: Improve the team's build system and throughput, remove friction that slows the team down, drive observability across the product, and make decisions from data — not opinion.

What they're looking for

  • C++ or relevant coding languages for backend
  • Angular / React based front end designs

Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other.  We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

Job Description: Full Stack Tech Lead

Job Summary: Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) is a joint venture between Caterpillar and Trimble whose purpose is to transform the way heavy equipment customers shape the world with solutions that differentiate Caterpillar and Trimble.

As a Full Stack Tech Lead for CTCT grade control platform products, you will own the end-to-end technical direction for your area — from HW/SW internals through system architecture to production release. You are the deepest technical voice in the room: you shape design and architectural decisions at the CTCT level, resolve the crises no one else can, and set the engineering bar the org treats as the benchmark. You translate complex business and system needs into robust software design, kill complexity that slows the org down, and drive AI-Native, CI/CD, functional-safety, and V&V standards across EW/RW. Ultimately, your leadership ensures the product ships fast, ships safe, and holds a competitive edge on the field.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

System & Architectural Depth

  • CTCT-Level Architecture: Make design and architectural decisions at the CTCT level with strong systems thinking, translating complex business and system requirements into robust software design.

  • End-to-End Codebase Command: Hold a deep understanding of the entire EW/RW codebase and system-wide flows — able to go into HW/SW internals and see the bits and bytes move across multiple features.

  • First-Principles Simplification: Cut architectural complexity and cost/BOM by deleting, not just adding — reducing designs to their essential parts and killing complexity that is slowing the org down.

Debugging, Reliability & Safety

  • Crisis-Grade Debugging: Be the person who resolves any crisis, anywhere in the codebase or the field — including cross-domain HW/SW issues others get stuck on — regardless of which team owns the code.

  • Systemic Fixes: Put fixes in place that stop whole classes of bugs from recurring, not just one-off patches.

  • Reliability Standards Across Teams: Drive reliability and safety standards across EW/RW so the whole product fails safe.

Delivery Governance, CI/CD & AI-Native Engineering

Technical Skills

  • Backend - C++ or relevant coding languages for backend

  • Frontend - Angular / React based front end designs.

  • Communication protocols
