Full description from employer

We're looking for a Technical Coach to join La Fosse Academy as we launch and grow our new apprenticeship offering across a range of digital and technology standards - including Digital Product Manager, Software Developer, Data Analyst, Digital Support Technician and DevOps Engineer.

This is an exciting opportunity to join at an early stage and help shape the development of our apprenticeship programmes, combining your technical expertise with a genuine passion for developing people and helping them build successful careers in technology.

You'll manage your own caseload of apprentices, delivering engaging coaching sessions, workshops and progress reviews and making sure every learner receives the structured, compliant support they need to succeed.

This is a varied role that combines technical coaching, training delivery, assessment, curriculum development and learner support. You'll help learners build their technical knowledge, apply it effectively within their workplace and remain on track throughout their apprenticeship.

Alongside delivery, you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate learner records, marking and assessing work, setting clear development targets and supporting English and maths where required. You'll ensure programmes are delivered in line with DfE funding rules, apprenticeship standards, safeguarding and Prevent requirements, Ofsted expectations and our internal quality standards.

As part of a new and growing offering, you'll also have the opportunity to influence how our programmes develop. You'll work with the wider Academy team to shape curriculum content, maintain strong links with industry, support employer engagement, improve processes and continuously enhance the learner experience.

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with a genuine passion for developing people and who is excited by the opportunity to help build something new. You'll be organised, engaging and confident explaining technical concepts to learners with different levels of experience, with a strong understanding of apprenticeship delivery within a regulated environment.

Requirements

We're looking for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality learning experiences and supporting learners to achieve their full potential. You'll be organised, engaging and confident managing multiple priorities, with experience delivering apprenticeships within a regulated environment.

To be successful, you'll have:

Essential

  • A Level 5 qualification, or equivalent industry experience, within a relevant digital or technology discipline.
  • Level 2 English and Maths, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience coaching, training or assessing apprentices or learners within a digital or technology subject.
  • Experience delivering teaching, learning or assessment within an apprenticeship programme.
  • Experience managing a learner caseload, including progress tracking, target-setting and progress reviews.
  • Current, up-to-date technical knowledge relevant to the apprenticeship standards being delivered.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding, Prevent and learner welfare responsibilities within an apprenticeship or further education environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence delivering engaging technical training and explaining complex concepts clearly.
  • Confidence using digital platforms and the ability to learn learner management, e-portfolio and MIS systems.
  • A willingness to work towards a recognised teaching qualification, such as the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, within an agreed timeframe if you don't already hold one.
  • The right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
  • The willingness and ability to travel to employer or placement sites when required.

Desirable

  • A recognised teaching qualification such as a Level 5 DET, Cert Ed, PGCE or QTLS status.
  • A recognised assessor qualification such as TAQA or CAVA, or currently working towards one.
  • Relevant industry or vendor certifications such as AWS, Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, Scrum or Agile.
  • Previous hands-on experience working within a technical role outside of teaching or training, for example as a developer, technician, engineer or IT professional.
  • Experience working directly with employers to align workplace learning with apprenticeship standards.
  • Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs or embedding English and maths within vocational learning.
  • Experience using learner management or e-portfolio systems such as Smart Assessor, OneFile, Aptem or similar.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport.
  • Knowledge of AI and how it is being implemented across organisations.
