About this role

Our Client, a manufacturing company within the consumer goods industry is seeking a skilled Technician (Fitter/Turner/Milling) to support its Tool Room operations. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform mechanical tasks, including turning, milling, fitting, and surface grinding, to support fabrication and mechanical work within the plant. Responsibilities: Perform mechanical maintenance, machine fitting, mold assembly, and general machine assembly within the plant. Execute preventive and breakdown maintenance on machines, molds, and utility systems. Carry out milling, surface grinding, cutting, hobbing, turning, and fitting tasks as instructed by the Tool Room Supervisor, based on job cards or technical drawings. Work to minimize downtime, with a target of achieving zero downtime. Comply with all safety protocols related to mechanical parts, machines, and tools. Ensure a valid work permit is obtained before commencing work in high-risk or restricted areas such as rooftops, elevated heights, or intricate machine zones. Strictly follow PPE requirements and safety procedures when handling machines, tools, molds, and mechanical equipment. Maintain accurate documentation of daily and weekly breakdowns, preventive maintenance activities, and related records. Ensure cleanliness and proper housekeeping in the Tool Room and surrounding work areas. Carry out any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor. Requirements Certificate Level 2 (VETA) in Fitting and Turning. 2–3 years of hands-on experience in a similar mechanical or tool room technician role. Basic proficiency in reading and writing in both Swahili and English. Ability to interpret technical drawings and perform precise measurements. Skilled in using measuring tools such as levelling gauges and vernier calipers.
